The DFCS holds two formal concert seasons each year. Through participation, members have the opportunity to share, preserve, and advance the art of choral singing in addition to developing their talents by performing a varied and challenging repertoire. From the sounds of Broadway to the spiritual works of such composers as Moses Hogan, this choral ensemble aims to please its audience through the gift of music!
Two presentations of the spring concert are performed in April or May and two fall/winter concerts are performed in November or December. Each concert may include selections relative to the appropriate holiday season. Rehearsals are conducted one evening per week from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. The chorus also performs for The Lowman Home, a residence facility for the aged, and participates in local community events each year, such as “Open House on Beaufort Street,” a Christmas open house in the town of Chapin, SC.
Artistic Direction is provided by Mrs. Marjorie Turner, a veteran music educator with over 34 years of experience teaching at both the middle and high school levels. Her credentials also include numerous performance experiences. The DFCS is most fortunate to have this talented and experienced leader.
Rehearsals begin for the spring season in January and in August for the fall/winter season. New members are welcome! Membership dues are $15/season or $25/year.
